Get to know Me!

Hello and welcome!

My name is Maddy Shilts (they/he).  I'm a Chicago based actor and performer with a penchant for academics and historical scholarship.  I earned my BA degrees in Theater and History from Miami University of Ohio in 2021 and received my MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago in the summer of 2022.

My experiences and interest are wide ranging.  My previous credits range from fantastical contemporary works to the Bard's classics including The Lightning Thief: A Percy Jackson Musical (Luke Castellan), The Jacaranda Tree (Hermes), Hamlet (Laertes), The Helpers (Jan Gies), and Twelfth Night (Viola/Cesario and Sebastian - not at the same time!).  I am also a voice actor with Shhh! Productions and an ACX audiobook narrator.  Whilst in school, I took classes in playwriting and podcasting as well as stage performance.

Much as I love acting, performing is not all that I do!  I have Assistant Stage Managed and Stage Managed several shows at the Skokie Theater including Anyone Can Whistle (ASM), Avenue Q (ASM), and Falling for Make Believe (SM).  I produced my first work this past summer (The Lightning Thief).  What's more, I'm a writer (with far too many ongoing and incomplete projects to focus on just one, as all good writers do).  Current working projects consist of plays and fantasy books and academic articles.  Click here to check out my writing!

I'm so excited to continue my work in the theater and engage in creative collaboration with other theater makers.  If you're curious as to what else I've done, check out my resume.  To keep updated on what's next for me, check out my upcoming gigs! Feel free to take a look at some production photos of past shows as well as reviews of past and current projects!
